Govt. Justice Awards Over $1 Million in STOP Violence Against Women Act Grants

Funds have been awarded to the following individuals:

STATEWIDE

West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals
$49,269.00

These funds are expanding the Victim Outreach Remote Technology Project to improve the justice system’s response to violent crimes against women through training and increasing virtual access for victims/survivors to state judicial system.

West Virginia Coalition Against Domestic Violence, Inc.
$51,300.00

These funds provide cultural competency training and technical assistance opportunities to STOP teams, domestic and sexual violence advocates, and related professions.

West Virginia Foundation for Rape Information Services
$167,214.00

These funds expand training, collaborations, resource development, and technical assistance to strengthen sexual assault and harassment services.

West Virginia Institute of Prosecutors
$64,335.00

The goal is to continue to develop and strengthen prosecution strategies and best practices, as well as to improve prosecution-based victim services in violence against women cases.

CABELL COUNTY

Subsidiaries Domestic Violence Shelter, Inc.
$105,598.00

These funds provide comprehensive assistance to victims of violence, sexual assault and harassment in Cabell County by providing effective prosecution, victim advocacy, advocacy, crisis intervention, support, training, evidence gathering, BIPPS facilitation and awareness raising.

CALHOUN COUNTY

Family Crisis Intervention Center
$19,667.00

These funds continue to support a full-time advocate serving the needs of victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking and dating violence.

FAYETTE COUNTY

Full service advice for women
$28,286.00

These funds enable a more coordinated and informed community response to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence and stalking, while holding perpetrators accountable for their crimes.

GRANT COUNTY

Family Crisis Center
$5,503.00

These funds provide ongoing services for advocacy in court, the STOP team, public awareness and networking between agencies on behalf of domestic violence, harassment, sexual assault, violence in dating and human trafficking.

GREENBRIER COUNTY

Family shelter center
$37,711.00

These funds are intended to improve and strengthen advocacy for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking and teen dating violence through collaboration in Greenbrier County.

HARRISON COUNTY

HOPE Inc. Domestic Violence Task Force
$42,066.00

These funds must continue the multi-disciplinary approach to addressing issues of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and dating violence. Focus on coordinating victim services to include the following members: Harrison County District Attorney, Harrison County Sheriff’s Office, City of Clarksburg Police Department, Bridgeport Police Department, and Domestic Violence Task Force, HOPE Inc.

LOGAN COUNTY

Logan County Commission
$25,052.00

These funds provide a salary for a part-time assistant prosecutor dedicated to prosecuting domestic violence, sexual assault, harassment and dating violence. The funds further provide overtime pay for deputies to serve domestic violence protection orders and similar documents for domestic violence, sexual assault, harassment and dating violence cases.

MARION COUNTY

HOPE Inc. Domestic Violence Task Force
$42,871.00

These funds are intended to continue the multidisciplinary approach to addressing issues of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, dating violence, elder abuse, and human trafficking. Emphasis is placed on coordinating victim services to include the following members: Marion County Assistant District Attorney, City of Fairmont Police Department, and Domestic Violence Task Force, Hope Inc.

MARSHALL COUNTY

Marshall County Commission
$22,221.00

These funds provide a cohesive partnership, which pairs a veteran deputy sheriff with a YWCA victim services advocate and an assistant district attorney. The group works together, from the initial report to the final prosecution, to help streamline the court process the victim faces.

MINERAL COUNTY

Family crisis center
$5,503.00

These funds provide ongoing services for advocacy in court, the STOP team, public awareness and networking between agencies on behalf of domestic violence, harassment, sexual assault, violence in dating and human trafficking.

MINGO COUNTY

Tug Valley Recovery Shelter Association, Inc.
$80,961.00

These funds provide services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking and dating violence so that some victims receive all the services they may need.

COUNTY OF MONONGALIA

Rape and Domestic Violence Information Center
$67,180.00

These funds provide the STOP team with representatives from Monongalia and Preston counties to participate in training and networking. Victim services will be provided by the RDVIC.

MONROE COUNTY

Family shelter center
$19,814.00

These funds are helping to improve programs and services for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking and teen dating violence through collaboration in Monroe County.

NICOLAS COUNTY

Full service advice for women
$28,747.00

These funds enable a more coordinated and informed community response to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, stalking and to hold perpetrators accountable for their crimes.

OHIO COUNTY

Ohio County Commission
$65,585.00

The funds provide a multi-stakeholder approach to addressing the pervasive issues of family violence in general and violence against women.

PRESTON COUNTY

Rape and Domestic Violence Information Center
$31,040.00

These funds provide the STOP team with representatives from Monongalia and Preston counties to participate in training and networking. Victim services will be provided by the RDVIC.

PUTNAM COUNTY

Putnam County Commission
$27,332.00

These funds allow for continued domestic violence investigation, aftercare services, and training by Sgt. Heather Grimmet.

RALEIGH COUNTY

Full service advice for women
$47,825.00

These funds enable a more coordinated and informed community response to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, stalking and to hold perpetrators accountable for their crimes.

RANDOLPH COUNTY

Help for Women in Crisis, Inc.
$21,311.00

These funds provide services to end violence against women by working together as a multidisciplinary team to provide non-duplicative, seamless, safe, trauma-informed and victim-centered services with specific outreach to underserved women.

ROANE COUNTY

Family Crisis Intervention Center

These funds continue to support a full-time advocate serving the needs of victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking and dating violence.
